Zuni Turquoise Squash Blossom Necklace
No collection of Native American jewelry is complete without a squash blossom necklace. While some say the beads represent squash blossoms and others call them pomegranate blooms, all agree that it is a stunning and uniquely Native American creation. The crescent-shaped naja that hangs from the beads, studded with stones of turquoise it was modeled after the ornaments on the horse bridles of the Spanish Conquistadors. Over time, the naja became a symbol of agricultural ceremonies and associated with crop fertility. This exceptional squash blossom necklace was made by an artist from the Zuni Nation Tribe. This squash blossom necklace is a rare and very collectible piece of work. The necklace measures 30 inches from one clasp to the other clasp and is made of a double row of 5/16 handmade inch sterling silver beads accented with 12 sterling silver squash blooms.
